The last night, oddtales | Gameplay Developer

Working from inception on The Last Night (debut 2017 E3, microsoft stage) with rapid prototyping of a highly different kind of gaming experience; focusing on cinematography, detailed animations and artistic innovation.

In charge of creating a highly modular, flexible and integrated architecture which would put as much power as possible into the hands of the designers and artists, with very little programmer gatekeeping. The Last Night works on a Signal and Reaction system with scriptable objects, and several types of variable references to make a catalogue of building blocks which allows for animations, gameplay and cinematography to work together seamlessly.

Involved in high-level design of the game and testing of new methods, tools and pipelines to get the project to where it is today.

Tasked with bug fixing and optimizing Dunkers2; which had a successful first quarter, reaching 3million downloads. Also porting this game to Android. Secondarily creating a 3rd person football prototype for their next potential title.

Consulted on the road map of the company, issuing well researched and innovative proposal to allow the studio to expand to multiple platforms whilst still producing new titles. Also proposed an integrated online api to link and focus user retention through a browser based developer console.

Tasked with creating a multiplayer VR application within a highly detailed replica of an 80’s nightclub.

Balancing LOD with performance in a range of VR platforms, so that different users would have the best experience. Prototyped and user-tested a range of VR movement options and multiplayer architectures. Integrated Spotify API to allow for multiplayer users to be played a soundtrack by a moderator. The end goal was to create a virtual nightclub that fans of the original could attend and hear live sets.

Created 6 mobile titles, doing everything from mechanics programming and api installation to asset preparation and User interface design. Involved in building and testing on multiple platforms and OS.

Developed with social features (sharing and google play integration), IAP’s, ad networks and analytics. Involved in creating VR, AR and mobile prototypes for clients including Founders Factory. Representing the Agency at corporate events such as APS London and Gamesforum.
